Here is the video demonstrating how I made my project for this blog hop.
I just love the new Mini Catalog and the Forever Blossoms bundle is so beautiful. And the coordinating products in the Parisian Blossoms Suite are amazing! I'm using some of the products in the suite, including the Petal Pink 1/4" Metal Edge Ribbon, the Champagne Rhinestones, and the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder. So. Much. Fun!
The inspiration for this card came from a card I saw on Instagram using non-Stampin' Up! products. I don't know about you, but I follow a lot of stamp and craft companies and other crafty artists on-line and get a lot of inspiration from their creations. When I see a design I like using some images that remind me of Stampin' Up! stamps, I like to see if I can make my own version of the design. This is a fun way to get your creative juices flowing if you're stuck as far as a design idea.
Here's the card that was my inspiration:
This card was posted by Altenew, a stamp company, and uses some of its stamps. The images reminded me of the Floral Blossoms stamp set. I liked the "band" across the middle of the image and the large sentiment. The color reminded me of Pool Party.
And here is the card I came up with using the above as my inspiration:
So I started with a Pool Party cardstock background and decided to emboss it with the Parisian Flourish 3D embossing folder. I love this embossing folder! So stunning! I think embossing the Pool Party layer really gave that layer some added emphasis and beauty. I decided to use a Smoky Slate card base because I wanted something other than white for this card. The Pool Party layer (5 3/8" x 4 1/8") is attached to the card base.
The large floral image is stamped on Whisper White using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored using Blends (Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, and Granny Apple Green). While the sample card was focusing on black, white and gray, I wanted to have some color in my card. Then I die cut the floral image using the coordinating dies in the bundle. I also stamped some leaves and die cut those and die cut some of the embossed flowers and leaves from Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green cardstock.
Since the large floral image in the Forever Blossoms stamp set was a bit smaller than the image in my inspiration card, I didn't like how the band (1" x 4 1/4" Petal Pink cardstock) looked going over the image. So I decided to place it under the image.
For the sentiment, I used the So Sentimental bundle, which includes a bunch of really great sentiments in some beautiful fonts and coordinates with the Stitched So Sweetly dies. These dies are becoming some of my absolute favorites! So versatile. I think the sentiment and label work perfectly on this card. The sentiment is stamped using Smoky Slate ink on Whisper White cardstock and die cut using the second largest label in the Stitched So Sweetly dies.
The sentiment is adhered to the card on top of the Petal Pink strip on the right side using dimensionals. The die cut florals are added on top. Tie a bow in the Petal Pink 1/4" Metal-Edged Ribbon and adhere using glue dots to the bottom of the sentiment. Add one (or as many as you like!) champagne rhinestone to the sentiment.
