Hi there! Thanks for stopping by my blog today!
In today's video, I'm playing with the new Stampin Up Pigment Sprinkles. I was dying to try a cool technique and it turned out so cute. I just love how bright and vibrant the colors in these pigment sprinkles are! And they are so easy to use - and a tiny bit messy. _
In watching other demonstrators playing with the pigment sprinkles, I noticed that some color squirts off the edge of the paper in some cool patterns. So, I wanted to see what would happen when I was trying to do that on purpose. I ended up with two fun backgrounds for my cards.
Watch the video here:
To get the effect, I cut 5 1/4 x 4" and 3 1/2 x 2 1/2" pieces of Shimmery White cardstock. Temporarily adhere the smaller piece to the middle of the larger piece - a little bit of Snail adhesive will work. You just want to be able to separate the pieces when you are finished.
Sprinkle a small amount of the Pigment Sprinkles on the smaller piece only - a little bit really does go a long way! Spray water on the paper at a slight angle (so that the color will spray onto the larger piece around the edges of the smaller piece. Spray as much water as you want to get the effect you want. You could also place a second clean 3 1/2 x 2 1/2" piece on top of the larger piece (after removing the first one) and repeat the process to get more color onto the larger piece. I did that for my first card (shown in the video).
Now you have two background pieces to make the card projects.
For the first card, I used the Above the Clouds Bundle, which includes the Above the Clouds stamp set and the coordinating Hot Air Balloon punch. The really fun thing is that you can use this punch to make magnolias to coordinate with the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set.
Gather your supplies:
- Above the Clouds stamp set
- Hot Air Balloon punch
- Bermuda Bay card base - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2"
- Whisper White cardstock - 5 1/4 x 4" for inside of card
- Scrap of whisper white for balloons and sentiment
- Mango Melody cardstock - 2 5/8 x 3 5/8"
- Shimmery White background piece created using Pigment Sprinkles - 5 1/4 x 4"
- Mango Melody Ink
- Bermuda Bay Ink
- Basic Gray Ink
- Mango Melody Stampin Blends combo
- Bermuda Bay Stampin Blends combo
- Banner Triple Punch to create banner end on sentiment (you can cut this using scissors, as well)
Use Stamparatus to stamp balloons. Punch balloon, basket and triangle on scrap piece of paper to create template for stamping so you can punch out the balloons and basket. Stamp the balloons and basket using Basic Gray Ink. Stamp the shadow or color-fill stamp on one of the balloons using Bermuda Bay ink. Color one of the balloons using Stampin Blends. Punch out balloons.
Stamp the three smaller balloons (one stamp) on piece of Mango Melody cardstock using Mango Melody ink. Stamp sentiment on strip of Whisper White cardstock using Bermuda Bay ink. Banner cut end of sentiment using Banner Triple punch or scissors.
Stamp three smaller balloons on piece of Whisper White cardstock for the inside of the card. Adhere to inside of card base.
Adhere pigment sprinkled layer on card base using your favorite adhesive. Adhere Mango Melody layer in center using adhesive. Adhere solid colored balloon to Mango Melody layer. Adhere sentiment under balloon, using adhesive only on left side. Adhere balloon colored using blends on top of other balloon (offset) and covering left end of sentiment using dimensionals.
To add some additional interest to the card, you could spritz some Mango Melody ink using a Stampin Write Marker or some glitter using a Wink of Stella glitter pen. You could also use Wink of Stella to make the balloons sparkle a little bit.
Isn't that a bright fun card? I just love those colors!
For the second card, you'll use the smaller piece that you colored with the Pigment Sprinkles.
Gather your supplies:
- Butterfly Gala stamp set
- Butterfly Duet punch
- Stitched Shapes dies
- Mango Melody cardstock - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" for card base
- Whisper White cardstock - 5 1/2 x 4" for inside of card
- Scraps of Whisper White, Granny Apple Green, and Bermuda Bay cardstock for circles, sentiment and butterflies
- Brights 6" x 6" DSP pack - Cut 1 1/2 x 5 1/2" strips from Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, and Granny Apple Green sheets
- Basic Gray ink
- Melon Mambo ink
- Glitter Enamel Dots
Stamp sentiment using Basic Gray ink on Whisper White scrap and cut out using Stitched Shapes circle die. Cut same sized circles from Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green cardstock. Stamp butterflies on Whisper White scrap using Basic Gray ink. Stamp shading on butterflies using Melon Mambo ink (stamped off once). Punch out the butterflies using the Butterfly Duet punch.
Punch larger butterfly on Whisper White layer for inside the card using Basic Gray ink. Adhere layer to inside of card base.
Adhere DSP strips on front of card base. It usually works best to adhere to outer two pieces first and then place the center piece evenly in between the other two pieces. Adhere center background piece to center of front of card using dimensionals.
Adhere circle pieces, overlapping each other, to left side of top layer. Adhere butterflies using glue dots.
Place Glitter Enamel Dots on card.
And that's it! Aren't those cards super fun?!? I just love those bright colors so much. I'll definitely be playing more with the Pigment Sprinkles. I just love those vibrant colors. I think they make the other colors look more vibrant, too!
