Hello there and happy Sunday! I hope you've had a crafty weekend!
Today I have a couple of alternative projects for the August 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit. In the video (below) I also walk through the Holiday Catalog - it is full of so many great things! I love the Christmas Gleaming Suite and show a card project I created from it.
First up are the Paper Pumpkin alternative projects. These projects use the note cards from the add-on kit that was available to Paper Pumpkin subscribers in August. I love the colors and the added elements from the Paper Pumpkin kit. Such pretty fall colors. I am ready for fall! It has been in the 100s this week in Texas and I am over it! I'm ready for those fall temperatures.
Gather your supplies:
- Paper Pumpkin kit - August 2019
- Paper Pumpkin add-on kit - August 2019
- Gathered Leaves Dies
- Banner Triple punch
- Terracotta Tile cardstock - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" and scrap to die cut leaves
- Pumpkin Pie and Mango Melody scraps to die cut leaves
- Early Espresso Ink
Cut note card from Paper Pumpkin add-on kit at score line. Use side with watercolored image on front as layer on card base. Adhere to card base using adhesive (liquid glue, snail, tear and tape or other adhesive). Stamp sentiment on other side of note card, cut into strip and banner cut both ends.
Cut embossed leaves from scraps of cardstock. Adhere to center of layer on card. Adhere a couple of the leaves with stampin dimensionals. Adhere sentiment using stampin dimensionals on top of leaves.
And that's it! First card done. Super easy and super cute card! I just love those embossed die cut leaves. This card is so pretty with those fall colors.
For the second card, I used the other note card from the add-on kit. It has a Pretty Peacock background and a fall wreath image on it.
Gather your supplies:
- All-Around Wreath Dies
- Gather Together stamp set
- Stitched Nested Label dies
- Lovely Lipstick cardstock - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
- Pear Pizzazz scrap for wreath die cuts
- Early Espresso ink
- Embellishments from Paper Pumpkin kit
Stamp leaf outline stamp from Gather Together stamp set on card base around edges. Adhere note card layer to card base. Stamp sentiment on other side of note card and cut out with Stitched Nested Label die. Adhere to center of wreath on card layer with stampin dimensionals.
Cut wreath out of Pear Pizzazz cardstock using wreath die. Cut pieces from wreath to use as embellishment behind sentiment. Adhere wreath pieces, leaves and vellum leaves from Paper Pumpkin kit behind sentiment. You could also add some rhinestone embellishments or a ribbon bow.
There are so many things you can do with these Paper Pumpkin kits! And there are always lots of embellishments left over, even if you make all of the projects included in the kit. They are a super fun way to do some crafting and be creative. And the subscription is only about $22 a month! Such a bargain!

Lastly, I put together a cut Christmas card that I made for a swap. This card uses the beautiful Brightly Gleaming suite from the Holiday Catalog.
Gather your supplies:
- Christmas Gleaming stamp set
- Gleaming Ornaments Punch pack (get the bundle (153006) and save 10%)
- Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder
- Brightly Gleaming DSP - 5 1/4 x 4" sheet for layer on card and scrap for ornament
- All-Around Wreath Dies
- Pretty Peacock cardstock - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" and scrap for ornament
- Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow scraps for wreath die cuts
- Mossy Meadow scrap for ornament
- Whisper White cardstock - 5 1/4 x 4" and scrap for sentiment
- Vellum cardstock - 3 1/4 x 4 1/2"
- Versamark ink
- Pretty Peacock ink
- Merry Merlot ink
- Pretty Peacock and Night of Navy Stampin Write Markers
- Copper embossing powder
Punch ornament from Brightly Gleaming DSP. Stamp large ornament on Mossy Meadow cardstock with Versamark ink. Emboss with copper embossing powder. Emboss Pretty Peacock scrap with Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder and punch large ornament out. Stamp sentiment ("Deck the Halls" part of sentiment stamp) in Pretty Peacock ink on Whisper White scrap. Punch out using smaller ornament punch.
Adhere 5 1/4 x 4" sheet of Brightly Gleaming DSP to card base. Adhere Pretty Peacock embossed ornament in center of vellum cardstock (or a little off-centered from top to bottom and side-to-side - place it where you like it best) using snail. Using dimensionals, adhere other large punched ornaments on either side, not even with, the middle ornament. One should be lower, toward the bottom of the vellum layer. Adhere sentiment ornament on top. Adhere vellum layer to card, placing adhesive behind where the ornaments are adhered only so that adhesive won't be visible.
Die cut wreaths from Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow cardstock scraps using wreath from All-Around Wreath dies. Cut wreaths into quarters, as desired, and adhere two pieces of each color at top of vellum layer. Draw lines from leaves at top to top of ornaments using Night of Navy Stampin Write marker so that it appears that ornaments are hanging from greenery.
You could add a linen thread bow to the greenery, too.
For the inside layer, stamp the bottom part of the sentiment stamp ("with boughs of holly") toward the top of the 5 1/4 x 4" Whisper White cardstock using Pretty Peacock ink. One easy way to ink just that part of the stamp is to use the Pretty Peacock Stampin Write marker to ink the stamp. You could also cover the top part of the stamp with a post-it note when you ink up the stamp. Remember to remove the post-it from the stamp before you stamp the sentiment! Stamp the "dots" from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set in Merry Merlot ink on either side of the sentiment on the inside layer. Adhere inside layer to inside of card.
So pretty isn't it? I love this card! I CASE'd it from the sample that is on page 30 of the Holiday Catalog. That's a really great place to get inspiration for card layouts. Copy the general theme using different stamps and dies and elements, but use the layouts to inspire your creativity! It's super fun to see what you can come up with based on a general layout diagram.
